
In 2006, as Camstead’s interest and ambitions in the area of commercial property grew, we acquired the financial backing to consider individual sites with a greatly increased project value. This includes mixed-use development schemes, such as offices, retail, restaurants and hotels, all augmented by our core residential base.
We have a history of looking harder – because often the best opportunities exist in locations that have either been overlooked or seem beyond the expertise of ordinary developers. Camstead has always been eager to find creative ways of making projects happen in circumstances which other developers find too challenging, such as complete refurbishments of listed buildings, or developments on ‘difficult’ sites such as former petrol filling stations or contaminated industrial areas. The challenge as we see it is not only to provide exceptional commercial opportunities, but to contribute to the quality of the historical and physical environment.
